Hi! I'm Kate

Hey there, I'm Kate Wallace-Boyd!

Welcome to MBH Psychology! I’m Kate, a psychologist based in Australia but originally from New Zealand—yes, you’ll notice the accent!

I’m passionate about helping people navigate the challenges of life, whether that’s living with ADHD, autism, anxiety, chronic health conditions, or simply figuring out how to balance everything without burning out. My approach is practical, compassionate, and tailored to you.

I know that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and I aim to make it as flexible and accessible as possible. Whether you prefer regular weekly sessions, occasional check-ins, or shorter or longer sessions, we can create a plan that works for you. I also understand that therapy isn’t always the right fit, which is why I offer additional resources like courses, workshops, and downloadable guides to help you feel supported, no matter where you’re at.

What’s MBH All About?
I call MBH Psychology “Mind Brain Health” because it represents the three things I’m passionate about: the mind (psychology), the brain (neuroscience), and health (the powerful connection between our physical and mental well-being). I’ve always been fascinated by these aspects, and I bring that curiosity into my work. Whether it's figuring out if ADHD or autism is playing a role in your life, the impact of a physical health condition, or helping you find strategies for managing stress and anxiety, I want to help you better understand how your mind works.

My Approach: Tailored to You
When it comes to how we work together, I take a client-centered approach, meaning that I meet you where you're at and adapt based on your unique needs. I draw from both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), so we can focus on changing what we can and accepting (or buffering) what we can’t. I believe in being both empathetic and flexible—sometimes we need to focus on the emotions and get to the heart of things, while other times we can be more solution-focused and tackle practical strategies to move forward. Whatever the situation, my goal is to help you feel understood and empowered to create meaningful change in your life.

A Little About My Background
I work with people from all walks of life and all ages, helping with everything from stress and anxiety, to exploring LGBTQIA+ identities, to figuring out if ADHD or autism is part of the picture. Before I started working in Australia, I was a health psychologist in New Zealand, supporting people dealing with long-term health conditions like pelvic pain, diabetes, cancer, chronic fatigue and more. I also worked closely with children and their families who were managing chronic health conditions.

The Boring (But Important) Bit: My Qualifications
Now, here’s where things get a little technical, but I promise it’s important so that you know I have the qualifications to help you! I’ve got a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Statistics, a Master of Health Psychology (first-class honours), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Practice. My Master’s research focused on a digital program to help people with long-term health conditions improve their mental health. I’ve also published journal articles on self-compassion, wellbeing apps, and helping young people with type 1 diabetes through digital interventions (feel free to look me up on Google Scholar!).

Thanks for being here! I’m excited to support you on your journey to feeling better, more in control, and empowered to take on the world.
